In this situation, the new action screen does not 'know' the context of the action - that is, the system is yet to be told which client the action applies to, and which one of that client's cases the action applies to. For this reason, the screen requires more information in this situation.

1.In the Who the action was for field, either type in the client's name, or use the drop-down arrow to select the name from the list.  
2.The system provides a list of cases from which to choose. Upon making a selection, the system completes the fields with the information from the selected case:

3.Select the applicable Action Type:

4.Enter the date and time the action began (note that today's date is entered by default), and specify the duration of the action. Note that you can enter the duration in hours or in minutes. By default, the entry is in hours. Note that changing between hours and minutes may require a change of duration, since the system will convert any previous entry in the Duration field to the new setting:

5.Add any applicable comments.
